Conception Calculator
Estimate your conception date, due date & pregnancy timeline
About This Conception Calculator
Our Conception Calculator helps you estimate key dates in your pregnancy journey. Whether you know your due date, your conception date, or the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP), this tool provides a clear timeline including your fertile window, trimester milestones, and more.
How Does the Conception Calculator Work?
The calculator uses standard medical guidelines for pregnancy dating:
- From Due Date: Subtracts 266 days (38 weeks) to estimate the conception date, since pregnancy typically lasts about 38 weeks from conception.
- From Conception Date: Adds 266 days to calculate the estimated due date.
- From LMP: Uses Naegele's rule — adds 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last period, adjusted for your individual cycle length. Ovulation and conception are estimated to occur about 14 days before your next expected period.
Understanding Your Fertile Window
The fertile window is the period when intercourse is most likely to result in pregnancy. It spans approximately 6 days: the 5 days leading up to ovulation and the day of ovulation itself. Sperm can survive in the female reproductive tract for up to 5 days, while an egg remains viable for about 12–24 hours after release. Our calculator highlights this window to help you understand when conception most likely occurred.
Pregnancy Trimesters at a Glance
- First Trimester (Weeks 1–13): Major organ development occurs. This is a critical period for fetal growth.
- Second Trimester (Weeks 14–26): The baby grows rapidly, and many people start to feel better as early pregnancy symptoms ease.
- Third Trimester (Weeks 27–40): The baby gains weight, lungs mature, and the body prepares for delivery.
