🌍 Distance Calculator
Find the exact distance between two geographic coordinates

How Does It Work?
This tool calculates the great-circle distance – the shortest path between two points on the surface of a sphere. It uses the Haversine formula, which gives accurate results even over long distances by accounting for Earth's curvature (radius ~6,371 km).
Haversine formula:
a = sin²(Δlat/2) + cos(lat1) * cos(lat2) * sin²(Δlon/2)
c = 2 * atan2( √a, √(1−a) )
d = R * c
a = sin²(Δlat/2) + cos(lat1) * cos(lat2) * sin²(Δlon/2)
c = 2 * atan2( √a, √(1−a) )
d = R * c
Why Use Latitude & Longitude?
- 🌐 Universally accepted coordinate system (GPS)
- 📍 Pinpoint any location on Earth with precision
- ✈️ Essential for navigation, logistics, and travel planning
Applications: measuring flight distances, road trip planning (as‑the‑crow‑flies), geocaching, drone flight paths, and any mapping project.
Note: The calculator assumes a spherical Earth and provides straight-line distances. For driving or walking routes, use a routing service like Google Maps.
