Zalgo Text Generator
Twist your text into corrupted, glitchy forms — adjust the intensity and copy instantly.
What Is Zalgo Text?
Zalgo text is a stylized, corrupted form of typography that uses combining diacritical marks from the Unicode standard to stack dozens of tiny symbols above and below ordinary letters. The result looks glitchy, chaotic, and often disturbing — as if the text itself is being consumed by digital static. This distinctive style first appeared in early internet meme culture around 2004, inspired by a webcomic on Something Awful, and has since become a beloved tool for creating creepy messages, horror‑themed posts, and artistic chaos online.
Technically, Zalgo text leverages the vast set of Unicode combining characters (ranges like U+0300–U+036F). When you place multiple combining marks on a single character, they pile up visually, turning a normal “a” into something like ă̶̡̛̠̦̥͎̙̟̳̹͉̙̞̪̜̦͚̊̅́̎̑̈́̈́̈͌̅̐̇̒̚. Most modern devices render these marks correctly, but the result can break line spacing or look slightly different across apps.
How Our Generator Works
This free online Zalgo Text Generator puts creative control in your hands. Simply type or paste your ordinary text, then move the intensity slider to choose how corrupted you want it to become. We defined four practical levels:
- Light (1–5 marks): Subtle glitch – still perfectly readable, just slightly distorted.
- Medium (6–15 marks): Noticeable corruption – the classic “cursed” look used in memes.
- Heavy (16–25 marks): Heavy distortion – text becomes difficult to read and heavily decorated.
- Extreme (26–30 marks): Maximum chaos – nearly illegible, ideal for dramatic effect.
After you hit Generate, the corrupted output appears instantly. Use the Copy button to grab it and paste anywhere — social media bios, comments, creative writing, role‑play, or just for fun. There’s no sign‑up, no watermark, and everything runs securely in your browser.
Tips & Responsible Use
Zalgo text is meant for entertainment. Keep in mind that excessively long or extremely distorted text might not display well in all apps (some limit diacritic stacking for accessibility). Avoid using it in professional settings, and never send Zalgo‑style messages to people who may find it disturbing or confusing. A little chaos goes a long way — have fun experimenting!
