Measuring Your Room
Measure the length and width of the floor or wall in feet or meters. For L‑shaped rooms, divide the space into rectangles, calculate each area, and add them together. Always measure at the widest and longest points.
Choosing Tile Size
Common sizes include 12×12 inches (30×30 cm), 12×24 inches, and larger formats. Enter the actual tile dimensions – include grout joint width if you want extra precision (most people simply use the tile sticker size).
Why Waste Factor Matters
Buying extra tiles covers cuts, pattern matching, and future repairs. A 10% waste factor is standard for straight layouts. For diagonal or herringbone patterns, consider 15–20%. It’s always better to have a few spare tiles than to run out mid‑project.
